In partnership with El Centro de las Américas, the Asian Community & Cultural Center offers FREE citizenship classes for permanent residents / green card holders. Lutheran Family Services and Catholic Social Services are also partners in this program to provide students who complete a 10 week class free legal assistance with their N-400 applications from one of their DOJ's or lawyers.

 

Volunteer responsibilities include:

Assist teacher with classroom set up / clean up, Welcome students as they walk in, Help students with class activities, help them learn material,  Watch the children of those attending the class

 

Citizenship class instructors are seeking up to two volunteers assigned per class.

***Volunteers for this opportunity must commit to attending for the majority of a semester OR at least 3 months in order to build relationships with the students. Volunteers will also be asked to complete an additional background check in order to volunteer for ACCC programs that occur at LPS schools.

Asian Community & Cultural Center’s Youth Program is a culture-based youth program serving ALL immigrant or refugee youth that is focused on mentorship, preparing for the future, empowering youth to be leaders, and creating a place of belonging for youth within their school and community. Our Youth Program coordinates multiple weekly after-school, or school-day programs at select middle schools and high schools.

Volunteer responsibilities include:

-Provide positive role modeling and support to youth.

-Assist ACCC staff in leading engaging activities and programs.

-Ensure that rules and guidelines are followed during activities.

-Maintain clear and open communication about scheduling with program coordinators and staff.

-Help students with homework, college and scholarship applications (as needed)

Volunteer: AAPI Heritage Celebration

ACCC will host the 2026 Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration event at the Sandhills Global Event Center, Lincoln Room on May 2rd from 1:00pm - 4:00pm. We will have cultural performances, food samples, fun family activities, and resources for newcomers to our community at the event.

Volunteers are needed for three separate shifts throughout the day, detailed below.

Shift 1 - Setup: 9:30am-12:30pm Shift 2 - Work Event: 12:30-4pm Shift 3 - Cleanup: 3:30pm-5pm

Duties:

Meet at the Sandhills Global Event Center

A. set up tables and chairs, decorate the stage and the entire venue.
B.  blow up balloons and make sure all tables have signs
C. set up food tables at 12pm 

Duties:

A. ACCC Info Table (2 volunteers)

B. ACCC food tables (help carry food in and out, serve) (6 volunteers)
C. help with the fun activities (3 volunteers)
D. help guide guests, call for staff or performance groups (2 volunteers)

E. Cultural Display Tables (8 volunteers)

F. ACCC Prize Table (3 volunteers)

*Volunteers working the event during this shift should wear black or green.

B. Pick up trash from floor
C. Tear down decorations
D. Take items to ACCC vehicles

Volunteers are needed to help set up beforehand, including moving tables and chairs, helping vendors set up their stations, etc. Volunteers will also be needed to clean up afterwards. During the event, volunteers are welcome to stay and enjoy the event, or leave and come back.

This event can count for 1-5 hours depending on how long you stay.
