Lincoln Literacy

Who We Are

Lincoln Literacy (LL) is a multi-award-winning charitable provider of a continuum of services rooted in language and literacy skills. Its mission is to strengthen our community by teaching the English language and a variety of literacy skills to people of all cultures. We are a team of 200+ volunteer tutors and 55+ staff members supporting the learning of 3,000 adult learners from the very basics of English into career placement as teachers, healthcare professionals, engineers and more. We provide transportation via six 12-passenger vans and educational childcare during our classes at our own building and our eight community sites located in the neighborhoods in which our students live.

What We Do

In 2025 we taught 3,121 students from 143 countries to read, write, and speak English. We offer small group and one-on-one classes, both online and in person. Our volunteer tutors allow us to offer 125+ classes per week Monday-Saturday. Tutors teach once or twice a week for 60-90 minutes. Lincoln Literacy provides tutor training and ongoing support. Previous teaching experience is not required! We have a strong training model, many teaching resources, and a dedicated staff and volunteer group to help new tutors thrive alongside students.

Come join us to help our Newest Neighbors gain English skills and knowledge of our community!
