What We Do
NeighborWorks Lincoln is a nonprofit community housing development organization that actively partners with residents, businesses, and public officials to increase the supply of affordable housing and strengthen neighborhoods. NWL opens doors for people to achieve their dreams of homeownership and for others who are committed to strong and inclusive neighborhoods. Three primary program areas work in tandem to center neighbors and advance neighborhoods in support of a healthier, and more equitable Lincoln.
- Real Estate Development: Increases the supply of safe, quality, and affordable housing and advances neighborhoods through strengthened housing stock.
- Community Building: Cultivates neighborhood capacity to help improve quality of life for Lincoln residents through appreciative inquiry and an asset-based community development methodology. NWL engages residents in environmental improvement projects, neighborhood events, advocacy, and leadership development. NWL Community Builders connect diverse residents and cultural communities with resources and networks that enhance identity by building upon assets and cultivating authentic connection.
- Homeownership: Prepares first-time homebuyers with the help of a HUD-certified pre-purchase course curriculum and accompanying financial counseling. Income-qualified clients may be eligible for a zero-interest (payment-free) down payment assistance loan with NWL that covers down payment, closing costs, and also funds a rehabilitation scope.
