Visionary Youth

Visionary Youth’s mission is to impact families and change lives by supporting youth to reach their full potential. Since 2012, VY has served more than 13,500 youth and families in Lincoln through community events, support for essential needs, mentorship opportunities, and educational programming.

Visionary Youth hosts 3 annual events which provide vital services to Lincoln’s youth and families; the Free Haircut and Backpack Event, the Community Holiday Food Giveaway, and the Holiday Toy Giveaway; and provides a culturally relevant mentoring program, Mentoring in New Dimensions (MIND). MIND is a combination barbershop mentoring and peer group counseling program designed to address the need for representative youth mentorship programs in Lincoln. Offered in partnership with organizations that serve racially and economically diverse youth, MIND is designed to help these youth foster caring relationships, identify and enhance their strengths, build confidence, and open new doors by establishing a circle of support with peers and adult role models. The MIND Program is supported by the MIND Mobile Barbershop, a fully customized mobile barbershop that allows VY to bring the barbershop environment to young people across Lincoln.
