Who We Are

The mission of I've Got A Name is to fight sex trafficking in Nebraska both by enabling and inspiring the public to stand against the issue and by taking direct action to restore the lives of women and girls who are vulnerable and victims.

The idea of our organization was born in 2010 when Bob Burton, our founder, was compelled to combat sex trafficking after discovering its prevalence. His initial involvement included supporting a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing girls from the sex trade in Southeast Asia.

Over time, recognizing the existence of sex trafficking in our own home state, he redirected his efforts towards local initiatives, particularly focusing on Street Outreach. I've Got A Name officially obtained 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in 2013. In subsequent years, pivotal leadership additions included the appointment of our first Executive Director, Paul Yates, in 2016, and the recruitment of Megan Cook as the new Street Outreach Director in 2018.

Their contributions laid the foundation for the organization's growth, a trend that has persisted in the years since. Our numbers of clientele, client visits, presentations and events, and so on have continually expanded. This growth also includes the team member additions of Ally Sargus, our Marketing and Communications Director; Pamela Mock, our Street Outreach Specialist; and Paige DuRandt, our Community Relations Director.

Amidst this evolution, our mission endured, and it will not halt until each and every individual is free from trafficking

What We Do

I’ve Got A Name carries out its mission of ending sex trafficking in Nebraska by focusing on three main pillars.

First, awareness. We help the public identify sex trafficking and become engaged to fight it through our events and speaking opportunities. Specifically, this encompasses a variety of activities, including community events and presentations shedding light on the injustice of sex trafficking and motivating action, outreach to youth through school partnerships, and engagement with men through workshops and luncheons.

Second, action. We take action through Street Outreach, where we restore the lives of women and girls who are vulnerable and victims. We reach into our streets, schools, strip clubs, prisons/jails and other areas where women and children are most vulnerable and connect with these individuals. Alongside providing emotional support, our Street Outreach Team assists these individuals with basic needs such as safe shelter, legal support, personal documentation, food, clothing, transportation, employment, therapy, child needs, and more.

Third, inspiration. We empower people to use their gifts, personal networks, and passions to help those we serve and amplify our mission.
